Erin Maile O’Keefe

Erin Maile O’Keefe, co-founder CircusYoga, CircusYoga Teacher Training, and Flying Partner Yoga, is a certified Kripalu Yoga, Rasa Yoga, and Embodied Anatomy & Yoga teacher whose practice is informed by Body-Mind Centering, circus and dance. Her studies have taken her to India to study Viniyoga at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram with T.K.V. Desikachar, to Chiangmai to learn Thai massage and to Amherst to study Anatomy and Development Movement with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen. Her teachers also include Beth Biegler, Nateshvar Ken Scott, and Erich Schiffmann.

Erin has been a teacher of movement studies to kids and adults since 1981. Through the Growing A Story program she has taught story creation, creative movement, and play production to inner-city elementary students. She has brought her unique approach to story and yoga together in a practice she calls Story Vinyasa.

Since 1999, Erin has, with her husband Kevin O’Keefe, developed CircusYoga - The Art of Human Play for the whole family, workshops and teacher trainings at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health and presented them across the country. CircusYoga - The Art of Human Play weaves the communal celebration and skills of circus with the consciousness and vocabulary of yoga within the context of the family or group dynamic. Erin continues to explore expressive movement, balance, partnering, and group dynamics. In 1998 Erin and Kevin created and began leading Flying Partner Yoga workshops.

Erin received her BFA from Cornell University, a master’s cetificate from Ohio State University in Creatvie Placemaking. Erin Maile is the former Vice President and Festival Director of the American Youth Circus Organization. Born and raised on O‘ahu, Erin regularly teaches yoga classes, workshops, and women’s retreats in New York, Vermont, and Hawai‘i.
